Oeiras, Portugal – Rear Admiral Tim M Lowe (Royal Navy), Deputy Commander of STRIKFORNATO, visited the Municipality of Cascais. Rear Admiral Lowe was welcomed by Mr. Carlos Carreiras, the Mayor of Cascais.
Being the first visit from STRIKFORNATO to the Municipality of Cascais, it was intended to provide mutual understanding and improve the warm and strong relationship between the communities of NATO in Lisbon, and specifically between STRIKFORNATO and Cascais.
Rear Admiral Lowe highlighted the importance of this visit by stating "It is our pleasure to live and work in Portugal, a nation with a rich and proud maritime heritage and a wonderful reputation for generous hospitality and friendship, and to be a member of this community which has always opened its arms to NATO members. It's a great privilege and I look forward to a long and lasting friendship.”
After receiving Portugal as its eleventh member on 24 April 2012, STRIKFORNATO relocated its Headquarters from Naples, Italy to Oeiras, Portugal in the summer of 2012. STIRKFORNATO Headquarters is located in Oeiras, but almost on the border between Oeiras and Cascais. Many families from STRIKFORNATO are residents of Cascais and enjoy being part of both Oeiras and Cascais communities.
