Visit by Major General De Zeeuw from Allied Command Transformation

Oeiras, Portugal – Assistant Chief of Staff C4ISR and NNEC*, Major General Mels de Zeeuw (Netherlands Air Force) from Allied Command Transformation visited Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO (STRIKFORNATO) Headquarters.

The aim of the visit was to discuss STRIKFORNATO's participation in Operation Unified Protector (OUP). After being welcomed and received by Rear Admiral Tim Lowe (Royal Navy), Deputy Commander STRIKFORNATO, Major General De Zeeuw signed the Book of Honour. Later he had a meeting with STRIKFORNATO staff who participated in OUP and he was provided an outline of the upcoming operations at the headquarters.

Allied Command Transformation is leading the transformation of NATO's military structure, forces, capabilities and doctrine at the strategic command level. It is enhancing training, particularly of commanders and staffs, conducting experiments to assess new concepts, and promoting interoperability throughout the Alliance.

Throughout the NATO Libya operation OUP, up to 60 % of the STRIKFORNATO staff fulfilled key appointments until its termination on 31 October 2012.
