Neptune Strike

One of NATO’s premier enhanced Vigilance Activities, NEPTUNE STRIKE (NEST) encompasses multiple joint operational areas across Europe.

Neptune Strike has been a multiyear effort focused on harmonizing multinational and NATO planning teams to transfer command and control of Allied naval and amphibious forces to STRIKFORNATO, in order to provide assurance, deterrence, and collective defence for the Alliance. Each iteration of the Neptune series has increased in complexity while also increasing NATO’s ability to seamlessly integrate Allied assets.

Neptune Strike demonstrates NATO’s ability to integrate high-end maritime strike capabilities of Allied aircraft carrier strike groups and expeditionary strike groups to support the defence of the Alliance.

Primarily, Neptune Strike prepares NATO to use and integrate the high-end maritime strike capabilities of Alliance nations; enabling their consideration and utilisation to deter threats to the Alliance. Neptune Strike also prepares contributing nations to work with NATO Commands and will provide the frameworks for future national and multinational maritime integrations to NATO. In addition, Neptune Strike will also enable multiple and unique theatre-wide opportunities across the Alliance.

Neptune Strike is a long-planned activity to enable NATO’s Command and Control of multiple Allied maritime capabilities. The activities are conducted in compliance with international laws and standards. It is a clear expression of NATO’s commitment to readiness which enhances and promotes peace and regional security and stability.
