Católica University students visit STRIKFORNATO

OEIRAS, Portugal – Today STRIKFORNATO hosted a group of students and teachers of the Political Science and International Relations course, from Católica University, located in Lisbon.

The visitors were welcomed by the Deputy Commander, Rear Admiral Paddy McAlpine, Royal Navy, and Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Karsten Heckl who explained the very unique role of STRIKFORNATO inside the complex international organisation that is NATO.

Students and faculty were able to tour the headquarters and receive briefings on the Joint Operations Center and its activities, as well as NATO’s maritime Ballistic Missile Defence mission and capabilities.

This meeting was a great opportunity to demonstrate to local academics the role of STRIKFORNATO within NATO and strengthen community relationships with local institutions.
