SACEUR visits STRIKFORNATO
OEIRAS, Portugal – The Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), General Curtis M. Scaparrotti, visited Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO (STRIKFORNATO) headquarters on Monday, 16 October 2017.
SACEUR and his delegation took part in a variety of discussions, hosted by STRIKFORNATO Deputy Commander, Rear Admiral Paddy McAlpine, and a comprehensive briefing on the headquarters' role on NATO Maritime Ballistic Missile Defence and on Exercise FORMIDABLE SHIELD 17.
The visit to STRIKFORNATO marks a first to General Scaparrotti since taking command of the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, and he remarked: "It is my honour to visit STRIKFORNATO and discuss your important missions and significant contribution to security and stability in the Euro-Atlantic."
STRIKFORNATO is a headquarters able to provide an Operational Maritime Battle Staff directly to SACEUR, in order to deliver scalable command and control across full spectrum of the Alliance's fundamental security tasks.
