The STRIKFORNATO Command Group discussed STRIKFORNATO’s unique role, mission and capabilities within the NATO Alliance with Lt. Gen. Serronha.
During the visit, STRIKFORNATO’s Deputy Commander also had the opportunity to brief Lt. Gen. Serronha on the main ongoing projects and activities within the headquarters, and to thank him for the collaborative support of the Portuguese Armed Forces to STRIKFORNATO.
The Joint Operations Command’s mission is to provide operational command of the forces and assets of the operational component of the force system, within the wider missions assigned to the Portuguese Armed Forces.
STRIKFORNATO is a rapidly deployable and scalable headquarters, capable of planning and executing full spectrum joint maritime operations, and providing command and control of maritime Ballistic Missile Defence. As part of this mission, STRIKFORNATO is responsible for the integration of U.S. naval, carrier, and amphibious forces into NATO operations to provide assurance, deterrence, and collective defence for the Alliance. STRIKFORNATO is comprised of 13 member nations: Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, the U.K. and U.S.
