STRIKFORNATO’s Deputy Commander, Rear Admiral Guy Robinson, Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Jason Bohm, and Deputy Chief of Staff Operations, Brigadier General Andrés Gacio, welcomed NATO's designated Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe (DSACEUR), Lieutenant General Tim Radford CB DSO OBE to STRIKFORNATO’s headquarters today, 6th of February.

The aim of the visit was to understand the roles, capabilities, and mission of STRIKFORNATO and discuss the recent certification as a NATO’s first and only Expanded Task Force during exercise TRIDENT JUPITER 2019.

The Deputy Commander also had the opportunity to present the designated DSACEUR with the main ongoing projects and activities within STRIKFORNATO.

Lt. Gen. Tim Radford, who has previously served as the Deputy Commander of NATO’s Op Resolute Support in Afghanistan and Commander of the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps in Gloucester, will become DSACEUR in Spring 2020.

The role of DSACEUR is vital within the structure of the Allied Command Operations, one of NATO’s two strategic military commands, where the holder of the position serves as second in command to SACEUR leading NATO troops and operations.

STRIKFORNATO is a rapidly deployable and scalable headquarters capable of planning and executing full spectrum joint maritime operations and providing command and control of maritime Ballistic Missile Defence. As part of this mission, STRIKFORNATO is responsible for the integration of U.S. naval, carrier, and amphibious forces into NATO operations to provide assurance, deterrence, and collective defence for the Alliance. STRIKFORNATO is comprised of 13 member nations: Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, the U.K. and U.S.
