STRIKFORNATO UK personnel presented with surface warfare badges and pins to during Exercise BALTOPS 2020

OEIRAS, Portugal – In line with many other countries’ Navies, the UK’s Royal Navy has recently introduced badges for Surface Warfare officers and those who have held command positions in major warships in order to recognise the necessary skills and experience to reach key points in their careers.

The new badges were presented by STRIKFORNATO’s Deputy Commander, Rear Admiral Guy Robinson OBE, to two other Royal Navy warfare officers on the staff, Commander Rob Steadman and Lieutenant Commander Jamie Campbell-Baldwin. Both officers are currently heavily involved in Exercise BALTOPS 20, and Cdr Steadman is the exercise’s lead staff officer and planner, having spent the past year coordinating the various elements of developing the multinational exercise endeavour.

“I am delighted to be able to find time amidst a busy exercise like BALTOPS 20 to present these pins in recognition of major achievements in the careers of these surface warfare officers”, said RAdm Robinson. “The warfare community is one that spans many Navies around the world, and acknowledging this will help build greater cohesion and shared experience and value upon which organisations such as STRIKFORNATO relies.”
