On behalf of STRIKFORNATO’s Commander, Vice Admiral Eugene H. Black III, the Deputy Commander, Rear Admiral Guy Robinson OBE, had the privilege of commending Commander Peter for his outstanding performance while leading the J6 Division during an official ceremony.
Rear Admiral Robinson emphasized his appreciation for Commander Peter’s multiple talents, which have been fundamental to enhancing STRIKFORNATO’s communications resiliency and interoperability with the wider NATO Alliance throughout the European theater, and supporting the highest levels of operational readiness, while leading his multinational team with compassion and good humour.
Commander Peter’s distinctive accomplishments have brought great honour to his service, STRIKFORNATO, NATO and his Nation: “I am not only leaving SFN but also the German Navy after 42.5 years of service. Out of all this times I still wonder how we overcame the Cold War scenario with the fall of the Wall in 1989, without firing a single shot. I am absolutely convinced that NATO being ready to respond was the key to our success. I was Commanding Officer of a guided missile patroller in the BALTIC and we were absolutely hard and realistically trained to constitute a credible deterrence, and we were READY. The overall mission was “Be really ready to fight in order to not need to fight”. This is what I wish to SFN and all NATO”, said Commander Peter.
STRIKFORNATO thanks Commander Peter for his significant contribution to our mission, and wishes him “fair winds and following seas”!
