STRIKFORNATO donates office supplies to Portuguese Schools in Sesimbra

SESIMBRA, PORTUGAL – This week Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO (STRIKFORNATO) donated 30 desks to the Portuguese Basic School “Castelo” and the Portuguese High School “Sampaio” located in Sesimbra, Portugal. This donation is part of the community relation associated with the interaction in NATO member states and the surrounding civilian communities, an aspect that has been very relevant throughout the existence of the NATO Alliance.

Due to recent renovation efforts to the headquarters, STRIKFORNATO had to repurpose office spaces into conference rooms. This resulted in an excess of 30 spare desks in good working condition providing STRIKFORNATO the unique opportunity to offer them and to support Portuguese public schools.

The Parents Association of Sesimbra’s Schools were eagerly ready to receive these desks and to refurnish classrooms and offices in the two schools. The City Council of Sesimbra provided additional support with the transportation of the material and STRIKFORNATO provided the expertise on the assembly of the desks.

First established in 1953, as a part of the NATO Command Structure Reform, STRIKFORNATO relocated its Headquarters from Naples, Italy to Oeiras, Portugal in Summer 2012.
