The visit was an opportunity to discuss topics of mutual interest and to provide NCISG's Commander an overview of STRIKFORNATO's roles, capabilities, mission, and the main ongoing and future projects within the headquarters.
During his visit, MGEN Schlösser also had the chance to meet the German personnel assigned to STRIKFORNATO and understand their assigned duties.
MGEN Schlösser became the fourth Commander of the NCISG since its activation in 2012 and the first army general to command the Group, on March 2021. Commander NCISG is twin-hatted: he is also the Director Cyberspace for the Supreme Allied Commander Europe's (SACEUR).
NCISG HQ was established on July 2012 to be the command level over the originally just two NATO Signal Battalions (NSBs). Shortly after that a third NSB was added to the command structure and so the Communications and Information Systems Group was complete.
STRIKFORNATO, headquartered in Oeiras, Portugal, is SACEUR's premier, rapidly deployable and flexible, maritime power projection Headquarters, capable of planning and executing full spectrum joint maritime operations.
