Royal Navy Fleet Commander Visits STRIKFORNATO

Oeiras, Portugal – The Royal Navy Fleet Commander, Vice Admiral Andrew Burns CB OBE, was welcomed by Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO (STRIKFORNATO) Deputy Commander, Rear Admiral James Morley to our headquarters, February 14, 2022.

The visit was an opportunity to provide the Royal Navy Fleet Commander an overview of STRIKFORNATO's roles, capabilities, mission, current activities and the main ongoing projects within the headquarters. One mission discussed was the recent Neptune Strike Vigilance Activity, which was commanded and controlled by STRIKFORNATO from late January to early February in the Mediterranean Sea.

The Fleet Commander is responsible for commanding all operational arms of the Royal Navy, including their generation for task and operational effectiveness. Vice Admiral Burns is also the Chief Naval Warfare Officer and Gender Advocate for the Royal Navy, with 33 years of experience in the Royal Navy.

STRIKFORNATO, headquartered in Oeiras, Portugal, is Supreme Allied Commander Europe's (SACEUR) premier, rapidly deployable and flexible, maritime power projection Headquarters, capable of planning and executing full spectrum joint maritime operations.
