Oeiras, Portugal - Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO’s (STRIKFORNATO) Commander, Vice Admiral Gene Black, visited the headquarters for a routine business visit, on August 30, 2022.Vice Adm. Black met with STRIKFORNATO’s leadership and discussed updates on various exercises and activities such as the Project NEPTUNE series, and also debated on other interest areas within the command.
STRIKFORNATO staff was able to personally engage with Vice Adm. Black and deliver important matters in an in-person setting, briefing on the projects conducted in the high operational tempo within the headquarters.
Vice Adm. Black serves as a dual-hatted Commander for both STRIKFORNATO and the U.S. Sixth Fleet. As such, it is able to integrate high-end U.S. and other Allied nations’ naval forces into NATO operations.
U.S. Sixth Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with Allied and interagency partners, in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.
STRIKFORNATO is Supreme Allied Commander Europe's (SACEUR) premier, rapidly deployable and flexible, maritime power projection Headquarters, capable of planning and executing full spectrum joint maritime operations, primarily through the integration of U.S. naval and amphibious forces, in order to provide assurance, deterrence, and collective defence for the Alliance.
