The objective of this visit was to provide MGEN Mead an overview on how STRIKFORNATO is commanding and controlling NESH vigilance activity from our Joint Operations Centre.
During the visit, the Command Group had the opportunity to brief MGEN Mead on STRIKFORNATO’s mission and contribution to the overall NATO Alliance, furthering the cooperation and cohesion between JFC NAPLES and STRIKFORNATO.
NESH22 integrates high-end maritime expeditionary strike capabilities of Sea, Air and Land assets. The activity focuses on overcoming the complexities of integrating command and control of a carrier strike group, an amphibious ready group and a Marine expeditionary unit to NATO. The activities, which are being conducted in support of JFC Naples, take place in the Baltic, Adriatic and Mediterranean Seas, from 17-31 May.
MGEN Mead from the Royal Artillery, assumed the position of DCOS Plans in July of 2021, after serving as the Chief of Staff Allied Rapid Reaction Corps.
JCF Naples is one of three Joint Force Commands in the NATO Command Structure. The activation of JFC Naples was a part of NATO's transformation aimed at adapting the allied military structure to the operational challenges of coalition warfare, to face the emerging threats in the new millennium.
STRIKFORNATO, headquartered in Oeiras, Portugal, is SACEUR’s rapidly deployable and scalable headquarters capable of planning and executing full spectrum joint maritime operations, primarily through the integration of U.S. naval and amphibious forces, in order to provide assurance, deterrence, and collective defence for the Alliance.
