OEIRAS, Portugal – Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO (STRIKFORNATO) hosted the visit of 50 students from the Institute for Political Studies of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, on May 2.

STRIKFORNATO Chief of Staff, Rear Admiral Michael Wosje, and the STRIKFORNATO team, including interns, welcomed a delegation of 50 students from the Institute for Political Studies of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.

The main purpose of this visit was to deliver relevant background information on STRIKFORNATO missions and activities, provided by a Command Briefing presented by STRIKFORNATO Chief of Staff, Rear Admiral Michael Wosje, at the Flag Conference Room.

Moreover, this visit was also an occasion to show students the internship experiences and opportunities at STRIKFORNATO. Interns Afonso Morango, Maria Margarida Martins, Inês Santareno and Ulrica Marques described to the audiences their daily routine and roles at the headquarters, reinforcing how this internship experience might serve as a prodigious launchpad for their future careers.

The Institute for Political Studies of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, is based on the Lisbon Campus and includes the following courses: Degree in Political Science and International Relations, Master and PhD in Political Science and International Relations and the MA in Governance, Leadership and Democracy Studies.

STRIKFORNATO, headquartered at Oeiras, Portugal, is a rapidly deployable and scalable headquarters, under the operational command of SACEUR, capable of planning and executing full spectrum joint maritime operations including maritime Ballistic Missile Defence, primarily through integration of U.S. and other nation’s carrier and amphibious forces into NATO operations to provide assurance, deterrence, and collective defence for the Alliance.
