STRIKFORNATO welcomes its new Deputy Commander, Rear Admiral Craig Wood CBE

Rear Admiral Craig Wood assumed the duties of Deputy Commander, Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO (STRIKFORNATO), in Oeiras, Portugal, in April 2024.

Rear Admiral Wood, a seasoned naval officer hailing from the Scottish Highlands, commenced his service in 1989 as a Surface Warfare Officer in the Royal Navy. Over his 35-year career, Admiral Craig has served 6 command tours at echelons of increasing responsibility including: the Gibraltar Squadron patrol vessel HMS Trumpeter, and the destroyers, HMS Liverpool and HMS Dragon. As a Commodore, he has commanded the Portsmouth Flotilla (2017), the newly created Royal Navy Surface Flotilla (2020), and Coalition Task Force Sentinel (Nov 20 – Apr 21). Significant shore duty assignments include 2 tours at the UK’s Permanent Joint Headquarters as well as the UK Ministry of Defence.
