I am Lieutenant Remi and I am 37 years old. I have been in the French Navy since 2003. My spouse's name is Laure. She is a physiotherapist and osteopath, and we celebrated our 10^th anniversary last May! We have no kids.

To summarize my service, I can say that I started my career as a petty officer and antisubmarine warfare operator onboard one of the most famous helicopters in the world - the WG13 Lynx. I had the chance to quickly embark onboard frigates all around the world, and after many deployments, I passed an officer exam to become a tactical officer onboard the Lynx' replacement - the NH90 NFH. After 11 years, I became an instructor, NFH training course leader and expert of this combat helicopter's employment.

Sailing for a long time is a feeling of freedom, but if you can also accomplish a mission, whether military or humanitarian, it is a great feeling of pride.

Describing myself in three words is not very easy. I would start by saying that I am French, which already says a lot, but I'll let you interpret that however you wish! I am also probably too hyperactive. My spouse says that I am definitely not able to take time to rest. In addition, I am probably too direct, which is not necessarily a quality, but it is probably linked to my French legacy.

Thanks to this new position at STRIKFORNATO, I will have the chance to practice my entire favorite outdoor activities in new places. Off-road motorbike, mountain bike, hiking, scuba diving, and surf are all activities that I enjoy. The clever mix of technicality, knowledge, and mastery makes learning and practice particularly instructive. It is a principle that I like to apply in life! Discover, learn, progress – it is a real satisfaction!

When I was younger, I quickly decided that I wanted to join the Navy, probably seeking adventure but also because I felt that it made sense for me. Sailing for a long time is a feeling of freedom, but if you can also accomplish a mission, whether military or humanitarian, it is a great feeling of pride. However, it took me some time to decide what path I wanted in the Navy. At that time, I was so passionate about sound equipment that I even considered becoming a sound engineer! When I discovered the job of helicopter sonar technician in the Navy, my choice was crystal clear!

The sailor's life is particularly trying for families, even though I know that my parents, brothers and sisters, and Laure are proud of what I do. I am particularly grateful to the French Navy for what it brought to my professional and personal development, but I also know all the sacrifices that my family had to endure to make it possible. I thank them all very much for that.

Now, here I am in a new position, a new place, with new colleagues, and a new language. As Rear Admiral James Morley, STRIKFORNATO's Deputy Commander, wrote in his newcomer's letter, this is "Probably the most challenging position you have ever met." I have no experience yet at STRIKFORNATO but what I can easily note after a month and a half here is how welcoming the team is!
